If Josefa was alive today she’d be Herizen Guardiola, the “breakout” tomboy star of Netflix’s The Get Down, about a group of ambitious Bronx teens wanting to break into the 1970s hip hop/disco scene.
Josefa is a beautiful woman who knows her own mind. Herizen – according to a fan piece in Vogue, “has a sense of unstudied, bohemian cool—coupled with free-spirited curls and incandescent skin.” OK – in the TV show she didn’t have the curls, and Josefa’s dark hair is a midnight waterfall. But they’re both free spirits. Josefa? She’s very much her own person.
